The Health Workforce Planning Committee of the European Health Parliament designed policy recommendations on Health Workforce Planning that focuses on two major issues on both the European and the national level.

Firstly, the problem of surpluses and shortages of a number of professions in certain countries. Secondly, the continuous professional development, namely, policy makers need to ensure that healthcare providers are being trained for the reality of the next forty years. Authors of this paper also emphasise that multidisciplinary skills need to be further examined and integrated into training programmes of healthcare professionals. The importance of integrating digital skills into the curricula of all universities throughout Europe was highlighted.
